Hi. When using the Photopea online photo editor, if a Selection tool is used to make a shape anywhere on the canvas or a selection is placed around an individual layer, it causes guides, when they are created, for example 3 columns and 3 rows, to be restricted to being placed within the bounds of that selection as shown in my images. Is this possible in any way when using Affinity Photo 2. I've searched the forum and Google, but haven't been able to find a way of achieving this. Thank you.

To my knowledge you can‘t create guides based on selections directly.

there are possible crude workarounds, e.g. using the crop tool, then create guides, then uncropping.

Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.

I use iPad screenshots and videos even in the Desktop section of the forum when I expect no relevant difference.

While you can’t get guides to be automatically created from a pixel selection, there is a Snapping option called “Snap to pixel selection bounds” which might get you close to what you want.

See attached video.

I managed to achieve what I was after by simply adjusting the Margins independently of each other.

Out of interest why do you need a grid like this for your images?

What are you doing with it or to your images?

Another way is using designer, create an artboard from layer, then create grid of 3x3.

Even the crop tool allows to (temporarily) show a 3x3 grid. It is often used to check the composition of objects in the photography

Yup. I know how it's used when cropping images but there has to be another reason the OP needs that grid
