Hi!

I am a Windows 11 user.  I created a file in Publisher 2 and when I tried to open it from the software, it didn't show up in Recent Files and when I tried to open it in Explorer I got the message shown here.  I changed the file name by shortening it and eliminating spaces and it still wouldn't open.  How can I recover this file?  There is a lot of work invested in it.

Are you using any Cloud services to manage that folder, such as OneDrive or iCloud or DropBox or something else? If so, it is possible the service is configured to migrate data off your hard drive into the cloud. And in that case, it is also possible that when the Affinity applications tries to open the file, the service is not restoring the file properly.

Make sure the service is configured to make that file available on your drive at all times (shown as "available offline" in some services), and see if that helps. Or copy the file to some other folder not managed by the Cloud services, so you're sure it is physically present.

Hi @shedonlj,

Further to the advice and questions from @walt.farrell, could you attach the afpub file here and i'll see if i can open/recover it.

You can always try starting a New Document in Publisher and using 'Document>Add Pages From File' and selecting this file to see if you can recover it yourself.

Hi!  the suggestion from @walt.farrell did not work.  When I went to import, the import function wasn't working.  Yet another issue.  I will try Document>Add Pages to see what happens, but I think it's safe to say that a divorce is imminent. I'm thinking of going to InDesign.  While some features are useful, I would say reliability trumps just about everything else, and I've had a lot of problems with reliability with Version 2. Thanks.
