Mask only affecting a group

Hi.
If I put a mask inside a group, I would expect the mask to only affect the content of the group, but instead if affects all the layers below, even if some are outside the group where the mask is.

How can I only affect the group?

Drag the mask over the thumbnail of the group and not inside the group aka the textlabel

I made a new test file and is working, but I think as a clipping mask, because the edges are sharp and not really taking into count the softness of the mask
