RustyDawn Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (PFA) As shown in the image, I'm seeing warnings of each placed page of a PDF. Warning is: Quote Placed PDF Version (PDF-1.5) is not compatible with the PDF export version. To fix it, it says use Interpret mode, but I've heard that Interpret is only for Preview and not for export. So that's useless for me. What I want is: Place the content as it is (without affecting the layout just like a photo) and then resize them according to my taste and maybe add some additional text at top and bottom and then export a PDF document again. Interestingly, I see this in Publisher documentation: Quote Yellow indicates that preflight is active and issues that will not affect export have been found. Does it mean, irrespective of warning, the placed PDF is good enough and won't cause any layout or text related issues after export? I'm not sure really. So what do I do? What are my options? Quote

And, also, ensure that you choose a PDF Export format that is compatible with the PDF you're Placing. Also note: Interpret is for more than Preview, but as it will alter the processing of the PDF data, it may not work for your purposes. GarryP Posted January 20 Posted January 20 RustyDawn: There is an option to disable the PDF Passthrough message by editing the Preflight Profile, see attached image. Maybe that will be useful if you find out that the message is irrelevant in this case. You can alternatively change the Compatibility setting in the same place. RustyDawn 1 Quote

Interestingly, that's what I'm also curious about. When documentation says "warning doesn't affect Export", is this warning even worth worrying? I could export with those warnings and I didn't see any issue in a quick glance. Quote
GarryP Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Unfortunately I can’t help you with figuring that out; I only know that the setting is there but I don’t know what it affects. Someone else will probably know though. I think the answer will probably depend on how the exported PDF will be used later. For instance, if it’s just something to be read on screen by a non-fussy readership and it looks okay then the warning might be ignorable, but if it will be fed into some printing process (or some other important thing) where mistakes could cost money then it might be important. The message you showed will affect the Export, if its documentation is correct, as the documentation says that the file will be rasterized during Export. Of course, the message is only accurate if you've examined the Preflight profile and verified that it's checking for the proper PDF Export option, and edited it to specify the correct format if it's currently set to the wrong value. Still, whether it's "worth worrying" about will depend on whether you care that the PDF has become a raster image in the exported PDF file.
