MarcinSz Posted January 16 Posted January 16 the page layout in a documents added to the book or moved within the book should be changed if necessary. currently, the pages are arranged as follows (for two three-page documents for example) -|1 2|3 -|4 5|6 which causes the second document to start from the right (odd) page, and the numbering starts as for the left (even) page. the pages in the book should be arranged as follows: -|1 2|3 4|5 6 so the second document should start from the left page, appropriate for the page numbering. MikeTO Posted January 16 Posted January 16 +1 FYI the Books feature wasn't designed to do this and Stray Pages can only pad and merge while maintaining the existing spread structure. In my Publisher manual, I recommend against using the Books feature for a book with chapters that can start on either side of the spread. But I fully agree with you that this would be a great improvement. MarcinSz Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 I don't speak English well enough to post in a hurry the subject should of course be "rearranging pages (if necessary) in a document added to the book or moved within the book" (or something like that). but to the point. it seems to me that such functionality is necessary - a sufficient reason is that currently (as in the example I gave) inconsistencies arise between the numbering and the layout of pages: the left page may get an odd number, and the right one an even number. and besides, I agree that there is often no reason to divide a book into separate documents, especially if the book has no more than 90-100 pages. but I often deal with scientific and popular science publications of 200, 300 or more pages, consisting of 8-10 chapters. there have also been books of over 500 pages, consisting of over 20 articles. division into separate documents is natural in such a situation. similarly with the bulletin I prepare: it has a maximum of 40 pages, but it consists of a dozen or so articles and it is easier for me to operate the order of documents in the book than to drag pages in the document to obtain a satisfactory layout. generally I am so used to this mode of work that I divide even small publications into separate documents - but this is just my story, not an argument in support of the proposal Quote
Viktor CR Posted January 21 Posted January 21 @MikeTO has this been tested with the 2.6 Beta? Is there any improvement? Quote

There are a number of important Book-specific bug fixes in 2.6 but no feature changes.
