kulharin Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I have a lot similar to this I am trying to work through; below is one example. GIMP is fine for simple creatures that are solid when over the appropriate colored background. But anything with particle effects, semi transparent visuals, or ghostly creatures is an absolute tedious chore. I have been relying on the GIMP fuzzy select tool to apply transparency and semi transparency where needed but on creatures like this the thresholds are way to fickle. Would I have an easier time if I switched to Affinity for this kind of work? ... Quote
kulharin Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 and is it the Affinity Photo software I would want? Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 23 Staff Posted January 23 Hi Kulharin, This is quite a tough question to answer as it mostly comes down to opinion / personal preference. I would recommend downloading the free trial from our website to see if the raster selection tools fit your workflow Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
kulharin Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Thx, are there also any videos/tutorials you’d suggest watching that would be related to transparency. Alpha channels and layers? Quote
user_0815 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Your image reminds me of a tutorial from James. You could take a look at Affinity's playlists on YouTube. Personally I think that Affinity is really good in blending stuff, but of course it depends on whether you like the way it is implemented. Eveybody has his individual expectations how things should work. Quote
