LionelD Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi, this is my attempt to move my original post to the correct part of the forum because there has been no acknowledgement yet. It would really be nice to know someone at Affinity has noticed this; confirmation it’s a bug would be even better. Please? Regards Quote
Staff DWright Posted January 31 Staff Posted January 31 Hi @LionelD, Is it possible for you to post one of your Affinity Designer files that you are using as a template in Designer 2 for me to test. If you do not wish to post publicly please let me know and I will send you a Dropbox link Quote
LionelD Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 @DWright Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, uploading one of my “Templates” is not going to cast much light on this problem. They are already saved, and have filenames that populate the “Document Name” variable correctly, each time the file is opened, so the problem does not manifest itself. The good news is that this problem is independent of my “Templates”. I have reproduced it, together with a set of step by step screenshots. This new file references the Export Presets I use in all my Templates. There’s one set of 4 Export Presets used in all my Templates and their derivatives; each Preset uses “Document name” to construct the output filename. I can and will upload the file, but I do want to take a little time to annotate the screenshots so everything is crystal clear. If I could export the Export Presets, I’d upload them too. Reprise The problem is evident in two scenarios: Attempting to export any slice that uses “Document Name” to name the output file while the file is new and unsaved in AD2. If you save the file, then reopen it, “Document Name” has an appropriate value. If you open an existing file that uses “Document Name” to define the file name of an Export output, use an external method (Finder) to rename the file while it is open, and then switch to Export Persona, you will find that “Document Name” has not been updated to correspond with the new filenames. LionelD Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 @DWright I changed my plan. I have attached an annotated screen recording that shows the steps and the issue, as well as a small file that references my custom presets in case they become relevant (but I doubt that very, very much). Given how easily and simply this problem can be reproduced, I doubt anyone will get much value from the .afdesign file. The key requirements for reproducing this problem are 1) Export Presets that reference “Document Name” and all it’s variants, and 2) Attempting Export of a new Document before closing and reopening. It has taken more than 2 months to get to this point….. Regards Lionel Document Name Issue.mp4 Document Name Issue.afdesign Quote
LionelD Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 @DWright Small addition: This problem also arises if open an existing file, do “Save As” to a new name, and then try to export using slice definition/s that reference Document Name and its variations. Regards Quote
