Hello.

I downloaded a trial of v2.5.7 (latest version) to see about potentially replacing Adobe Photoshop / Lightroom etc and it does not want to start - it shows "initializing then loading fonts" and then the last message it shows is "loading data" and nothing happens.

Windows 11 platform, Intel, Nvidia and Microsoft all updated to latest version.

Have tried CTL and Start the application and checked "disable Hardware Acceleration" as suggested in the forum and elsewhere but still nothing.

My trial will run out in a few days so if this is fixed I am likely moving to Affinity Photo 2 when my adobe photoshop subscription runs out.  Otherwise, it will not make sense and this will look at other options.

Thanks for any ideas.

Welcome to the forums @TrialingAffinity,

I would initially recommend following the below to entirely factory reset the app's local user data manually, I've listed two sets of instructions dependent on the installation method used, if you're not sure try following the first set followed by the second:

MSIX

  1. Close all affinity apps
  2. Press WIN + R to open 'Run'
  3. Enter/Paste the following:
  4. %USERPROFILE%
  5. In here there should be an '.affinity' folder, rename it to '.affinityOLD'
  6. Try launching Photo again

EXE

  1. Close all affinity apps
  2. Press WIN + R to open 'Run'
  3. Enter/Paste the following:
  4. %APPDATA%
  5. In here there should be an 'affinity' folder, rename it to 'affinityOLD'
  6. Try launching Photo again

Let me know how this goes.
