I just updated to 2.6 and opened a tiff file made in 2.5.  I wanted to use the object selection tool on an aeroplane in a clear blue sky.  I clicked on the owl tool and programme immediately crashed.  I started it again and had the same result.

I had reported this also happened to the previous iteration of the beta.  It is disappointing!

Hi EmT,

Trying to be helpful I took an image and created an .afphoto version afresh in 2Beta, starting with a blank in 2Beta and placing the image - then rasterising.

I also saved a copy of the image as a .jpeg.

In both cases, just clicking on the object selection tool caused the programme to crash.

Both files are attached, as you asked.

Thanks

Hi, As seen in the attachment, I tried jpg and tiff and just opening.  I did not even make the jpeg, so it was not affected by any of my programs.  As to a crash report, I am not very good at the Mac's innards so just copied out the crash report for you - thinking you can make use of the pause button!

If you want anything more expert then advise me on the method and I will help as far as I can.

@Tr48

Are you using an Espresso Display? Could you try disabling Hardware Acceleration in Settings > Performance and see if the issue still occurs.

It would be helpful to have the actual crash report file. To find your crash reports please follow the instructions below:

Open the Console app from Applications > Utilities. In the left hand panel click Crash Reports - you will see a list of Crash Reports. Find the relevant crash report - it should display the app's name in the Process Name column. Right click and select Reveal in Finder. Please send us the .crash file.

Hi, I am using a Benq SW240 24inch screen, 1920x1200.

As far as I can tell one cannot alter hardware acceleration on a M1 Mac Mini.

here are some crash reports you asked for: there are several covering different file types - .afphoto, tiff and jpg

all the best

By the way, I have just been invited to update Sequoia - I will try beta after updating Sequoia and if the problem resolves itself I will of course let you know.

Solved?

I just updated to Sequoia 15.2 and now the Object Selection tool appears to be working fine.  I tried it on two images, a jpg I downloaded from the web and an .afphoto I created in AP 2.5.7, and it worked without crashing.

Best wishes
