leec2024 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I'm trying to set myself up with an ideal setup (within a budget) to run Affinity 2.0, in most cases it runs fairly well, but when working on large, picture-based documents (220pp) it really struggles and often takes ages just to go from one page to the next. The PDF Exports can take 10-20 minutes or more. I am currently running Publisher on an i5-8250U Laptop (HP) with 8Gb RAM and a 250Gb SSD (40Gb available). Would upgrading the RAM to 16Gb make a lot of difference? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lee Quote

My laptop has 40GB of RAM and it took hours to export the photo book. 35 minutes ago, leec2024 said: The PDF Exports can take 10-20 minutes or more. When exporting a PDF, launch the process manager and see how much RAM is used to know whether you need to increase it or not. I also speeded up the process by increasing the RAM limit in Publisher settings to 50 GB (although I have only 40). Then the process took up to 20 minutes, (but the PDF created in this way is not opened either by Рublisher itself or by other PDF viewers, except for Acrobat Pro - but this is another question). You have to try and choose the best settings. leec2024 1 Quote

More RAM would help for image previews within the Affinity document. I can't tell if it makes "a lot of" difference my depend on the amount of preview data which needs to be displayed.
