sverker84 Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) Update (after just 30 minutes from posting): Suddenly, the apps are working. No idea why, because I haven't done anything except installing Microsoft Office. This, of course, added a print (Print to OneNote). Could this have something to do with it? I've seen other cases where Printers (or lack of them) caused issues in other software. Or perhaps (more likely) the MS Office (365) installation installed or updated some .NET stuff, which also "fixed" Affinity software? Or perhaps Office is not related at all to why it started working. Hi! I installed the latest version today, on a freshly installed Windows 11 computer. The apps (Designer, Photo and Publisher) open fine, but crashes (shuts down) when I try to start a new document or open one of the samples. I installed all apps from the MSI/EXE files. What Application are you using? Designer, Photo, Publisher Are you using the latest release version? Yes, 2.5.7 (downloaded MSI/EXE for all three and installed today, 2025-01-10) Can you reproduce it? Yes Does it happen for a new document? Yes, for all documents System description etc. Windows 11 24H2 AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 48 GB DDR4 Samsung Evo 970 250GB NVMe Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 4GB VRAM Tried with both hardware acceleration on and off Screenshots: I have also uploaded a crash file from C:\Users\username\appdata\Roaming\Affinity\Publisher\2.0\CrashReports\reports Best regards, Sverker 4bed63a6-e82b-4d93-9cdc-b5cae194a401.dmp Edited January 10 by sverker84 Software started working Quote
Lee Jamison Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I have had similar problems repeatedly. Photos won't load properly. In 2.57 I couldn't even get jpg.s to load from my Olympus EM5 II I had to open the photo in Windows Photo and open it from there to get it in Affinity Photo. I've had similar problems with all the Version 2. More irritating yet is when something does load and I put it into Develop persona, work it up, and when I develop it is a blank image that, if saved, is black with only hundreds of kilobytes of data. I opened this image as a panorama of two images, trimmed to the size shown, then placed in Develop Persona. In Develop I adjusted exposure andaspects of color and contrast. When I developed it this is all that was left. I'm on a Windows 11 computer with more than adequate memory. Quote
Staff stokerg Posted January 13 Staff Posted January 13 Hi @sverker84, @Lee Jamison and Welcome to the Forums, Can you both try disabling Hardware Acceleration in Affinity by clicking Edit>Settings>Performance and unticking Hardware Acceleration. Then close Settings and you'll be asked to restart Affinity. Once restarted, try your normal workflow and let me know the results. Quote
