Portable Symbols library? (AD)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm loving the new 'Symbols' feature in AD1.5 beta.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to save libraries of symbols that persist across sessions? Such that when one opens a new document, it is possible to have a default (or perhaps selectable by a drop down menu) library of custom shapes available to insert into the document?

Cheers,

Oliver.

Hi Oliver,

Just drag the symbol from your document into the Assets panel - that way you can drop it into any document you ever make :)

Hope that's what you meant? If not, give us a shout!

Matt

Hi Matt, thanks, that's exactly what I meant - I just wasn't aware of the existence of the Assets panel! :) Fantastic!

However, am I supposed to do anything special when dragging? A key modifier or something? At the moment, when I drag a symbol from the symbols panel into the assets panel (either into one of the predefined categories or a new category) it does not appear in the Assets panel.

Cheers,

Oliver.
