Affinity Designer crash when i try to Export

I noticed that this occurred after playing with export persona in there I tried to change defaults of SVG, PDF and EMS and after that I did export that time. but after reopening the file when i tried those three formats it crashes. after selecting those formats, it tries to show a preview but crash after that.. any solution?? or known issue. 

 

•    Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers.
•    Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware)

UPDATE: It seems that its issue with specific file, not with the designer tried with other files works fine.

If you could upload that file to the forum, it may help the Devs discover what causes the crash so they can prevent it happening in the future

I'm having the same issue. Affinity crashes everytime I'm using the export persona. I'm trying to export png, jpg, pdf, and svg for each slice. Currently, I can't even do one slice at a time... VERY ANNOYING.

Hi @Lee-M and welcome to the forums,

As requested in your other post, can you upload your Affinity File along with any Linked Graphics (should there be any) and confirm which PDF preset you're using to export the file...

So I am really unhappy right now. I created a file in Designer 2.6.0 and when I click export the program freezes. I tried a new BLANK file and the same result so it has nothing to do with what was in my file. I had to kill AFDesigner in Task Manager.

I uninstalled 2.6.0 and reinstalled 2.5.7 but no luck for me. File can not be opened since it was made with a later version.

In the end I was able to export as SVG by opening the afdesign file in AFPhoto and doing the export.

For me when a program freezes it means the software received an error and did not know how to handle the error. Missing a bug like that is a pretty big ooops.

Also is there a way to save Affinity files for compatibility with previous versions?

Hi @blurred,

Could you confirm the spelling language shown in the language section of the Character panel when you open or create a new blank Designer document as this may be a known bug in the 2.6.0 release?

When you get the freeze, are you exporting to PDF?

1. English Canada.

2. See attached export persona. I assume that is the default at the moment. I can't say for sure because if I click export in v2.6.0 the app will freeze.

3. The attached image of a blank document would cause a freeze if I chose to export.

4. I was attempting to export to SVG, but never get that far.

Hi @blurred,

A little odd... The only thing I can suggest is running a factory reset of Designer by holding the Ctrl Key on launch and then checking these two options before hitting the Clear button and letting the app finish launching...

No guarantee that will make any difference but it is worth a try.

Note: A factory reset will reset any customisation to the tools panel and toolbar though based on your screenshots it looks as though there haven't been any changes made.
