Alex Sandoval Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hi! My name is Alex and I have the same problem with a file corrupted in my proyect and I hope my problem can be solved. This is what happened, I was working on a photography project with more than 30 layers, one day I wanted to open it and the message appeared: "It seems that the document file is demaged and should be closed." Fortunately, I managed to export the final result before the file was corrupted, but I wanted to keep the process and export a higher quality image. I did all the work and saved it through an external hard drive. My processor: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor 4.70 GHz Installed RAM: 64.0 GB (63.2 GB utilizable) Operating System: Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 Version of Affinity Photo: Affinity 2.5.7 External hard drive: ADATA HD710 PRO SCSI Disk Device I will also need a dropbox link in case you ask me for the file to verify it. I hope you can help me solve this problem, I will be very grateful. Have a nice day. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted January 9 Staff Posted January 9 Welcome to the forums @Alex Sandoval, If you could upload the file to the private dropbox link below we can confirm if the document contents can be recovered. https://www.dropbox.com/request/RByhiq6p5SzxD3uJgZFg On 1/8/2025 at 1:00 AM, Alex Sandoval said: External hard drive: ADATA HD710 PRO SCSI Disk Device We generally recommend saving to local storage over external locations and then copying files over to external locations afterwards. Saving to external locations isn't guaranteed to result in a corrupt file, but saving locally often significantly reduces the chances of encountering corruption and also ensures a local backup copy of the file is available. Alex Sandoval Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Hey! Thank you so much for replying. Yeah, my mistake was not saving the file over external locations and copying that file over to external locations afterwards, now I'll be more careful. I sent you the file with the name ''4.afphoto'' in the dropbox link. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted January 16 Staff Posted January 16 Thanks, unfortunately I do have to report that the file content is not recoverable by any standard methods available to us. I've therefore logged your file with the developers for further investigation into what's caused the corruption. Please note that we can't guarantee that your file can be recovered or provide a timeframe, so I would recommend reverting to a backup if one is available. Quote
Alex Sandoval Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 Good morning! I'm sorry to hear that the file cannot be recovered by any standard method. Therefore, I will be aware of the result about the investigation into my corrupt file. Anyway, I really appreciate your help. Have a nice day. Quote
