When I open a file on Affinity Photo and start painting, I can't find the brush I'm using, and nothing is selected!

*Why do I need to know my brush name? because I want to use the same brush for my eraser

Check out the Assistant Manager setting

"Brush tool sharing—Choose whether a selected brush and context toolbar settings are shared between tools of a similar nature (e.g. Dodge, Burn and Sponge Brush Tools), shared across all tools, or each tool's brush is set independently."

See if that does what you want

Thank you, @carl123

I saved that as a new brush to learn what it was, and then I used that brush for my eraser.

I will try your solution, thanks
