ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Posted January 7 As soon as I try to export a file to pdf the program crashes - really quickly, a few seconds at most, so its hard to get a feel for whether its a setting on the export window. MacOS 15.2 an on M2 Macbook Pro. I'll attach a file. WLS 1 SE Front Matter.afpub Quote
ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 BTW, how do I back up just to the previous beta version? Not right out of the beta, just roll back one release? Ron Quote
Hangman Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hi @ronditlesauvage, The first thing to try is to move the Linked images stored on your Cloud Drive to your internal Hard Drive and Replace them so the path to the Linked images is your Hard Drive rather than your Cloud Drive and then see whether the file exports without crashing... If it still crashes, can you either Embed the Images (via Window → Resource Manager) and re-upload the file or zip and upload the six Linked Files shown in Resource Manager. It's likely one of the Linked Images causing the file to crash on export but without the images, we have no way of telling which one is causing the problem... ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 OK that example is awful as it is full of external resources. Not sure what to do about that... That's when the crash happens, though. A separate but probably related problem - Here is another sample file, nothing external. When I try to export this using the pdf (digital - small size); pdf (digital - high quality) or pdf (for export) presets, it doesn't crash, but it won't calculate an output file size. I hit the export button anyway, I get this error: An error occurred while exporting to: /Users/ronstringer/Desktop/WLS 1 SE Alphabet Sample.pdf WLS 1 SE Alphabet Sample.afpub Quote
ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Thanks for the quick reply. OK, I embedded the linked files. It still crashes. I'll attach the other files. I really would like to back up a version, though - I'd like to finish what I was doing! Where can I find previous releases, if any one knows? Hangman Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Hi @ronditlesauvage, This is a known bug logged under AF-5457 with PDF presets where Tagged PDF is one of the default settings, i.e., the PDF (digital - small size); PDF (digital - high quality) and PDF (for export) presets. Untick Tagged PDF in the Advanced Settings and the file will export without the error... Regarding the Preview not previewing, after selecting one of those three presets and unticking Tagged PDF, save this as a Custom Preset in the PDF Export window by clicking the Hamburger menu to the right of the Preset dropdown. Then, select your Custom Preset as your export preset, and the file will both Preview and Export. ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Well, that's the catch! It crashes so quickly I can't get to the setting to untick it! Any other way to get to that setting? Quote

Hangman Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Just now, ronditlesauvage said: Well, that's the catch! It crashes so quickly I can't get to the setting to untick it! Create a new blank document, select your default preset e.g., PDF (digital - high quality), untick Tagged PDF, save it as a custom preset and export the blank file. Close the blank file and open the files causing the crash. Select File → Export and the export window should default to your custom preset and allow you to export the files... ronditlesauvage Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 (edited) OK, got a work-around. Went to another file, set up a couple of presents with the tagged pdf setting. Proceeding with fingers crossed. Thanks for the help. ** sent this before I saw your reply - thanks! Edited January 7 by ronditlesauvage Quote
