st87 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Hi, I'm still running Affinity Photo 1.10. For convenience, I have it on both PC and Mac. And for further convenience, I have tried printing from PC for the very first time and I definite feel there are less controls on offer. With printing, what is the difference between Fit to Printable vs Shrink to Printable? On the preview, they both appear identical in terms of scaling. I have a source photograph that's not scaled to the 6 x 4 print media I'm using, and I'm looking for the mode that will simply scale it such that it will just fill the entire media and minimising how much gets lost without needing me to crop it myself. I am very sure such mode exists for the Mac, but I can't seem to find the right buttons on the PC. Any ideas? Quote
st87 Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 also even when I crop it to 4x6 ratio, then print on borderless settings, it's still producing an undesirable border on Windows. I do not have this problem on a Mac. The printer is an Artisan 1430. What is causing my grief here? Quote

Assume you have a sheet of A4 paper in your printer If the image you are printing is smaller than A4 Fit to printable will enlarge the printed image to fit the available print space Shrink to printable will just print the image as is (i.e. no change) If the image you are printing is larger than A4 Fit to printable will shrink the printed image to fit the available print space Shrink to printable will also shrink the printed image to fit the available print space Fit to printable can both enlarge and shrink an image so it fits the printable area Shrink to printable will only shrink an image if it extends outside the printable area jeffers and Catshill 2 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. st87 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Hi Carl, Thanks for your help. Does there exist a mode where the print will "fill" the entire media? Quote

"Fit To Printable" will do, as long as the aspect ratio of the document & the page match. Otherwise there will (& must) be an unprinted area along 2 edges. So if you really want to avoid that, you will need to change (distort) the document's dimensions to match the aspect ratio of the page.
