Jo Caribu Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I use the latest version of Affinity Photo (2.5.7). Some month ago I recorded a macro which loads a specific .afphoto into another picture (and then the image is scaled and repositioned). I use this to import a signature and copyright imformation into a picture. So far it works fine. But know I wanted to change the file to be included to a new one with the year 2025. I am not able to record a new macro with this functionality as I get a message that including of files (or placing) is not allowed (I use the german GUI, so I don't know if the wording is correct). I tried "File --> Place" as well as drag and drop from the Windows Explorer. Am not sure if I originally used a different way but I don't think so. Thank you for any help you can provide! Quote
NotMyFault Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Can you show a screenshot of the error message? I would check the placement policy (embedded or linked), this might be relevant (not sure). Jo Caribu Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 (edited) I use "embeded". I also tried this with "link" checked and I get a message that "include linked documents" (in german) cannot be recorded. Edited January 5 by Jo Caribu Quote
NotMyFault Posted January 5 Posted January 5 As workaround, try to export to e.g. png and embed the png file Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault Posted January 5 Posted January 5 There is a older reference to a similar issue: Can't place image when recording a macro in Photo V2 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Jo Caribu Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Thank you for your help. I will try the workaround. Quote

I stay away from Macros unless absolutely unavoidable as I will loose more time fighting against bugs and opaque restrictions as I save by using them.
