EzGlider Posted January 4 Posted January 4 I just installed Affinity Photo 2 using the MSIX file and It seems like I am missing something as the clip below shows my entire screen and there should be some sort of main workspace that the New Document box is located in. Mine just has a black screen surrounding the new document. Any suggestions? Windows 10 with 3 screens extended . Computer used primarily for an IRacing simulator. Thanks in advance for your help. EzGlider Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 If I select a template size and click Create then the New Document box will disappear and then I have just a black screen Quote
Hangman Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Hi @EzGlider and welcome to the forums, Try View → Toggle UI and let us know if that resolves the issue... EzGlider Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 I'm sorry I don't quite know what you mean by press View then toggle UI. On the keyboard I am not familiar with a view Key, and there is nothing on my Affinity screen with View in it. UI , is that literally the "U" &"I" key or User Interface, or something else? I did try the Tab key with the Cursor on the New Document box and it moves the cursor from things like Search>Print>Landscape, etc. Put the cursor on the black field and nothing happened. Thanks for your help and patience. EZ Quote

He means to open the View menu & click on the Toggle UI item in that menu. 31 minutes ago, EzGlider said: I did try the Tab key with the Cursor on the New Document box and it moves the cursor from things like Search>Print>Landscape, etc. Try pressing the Tab keyboard key before opening the New Document window, or after you create a new document. OK, but I assume the OP has not done that & since it is a default it should work to toggle the visibility of the UI on & off. GarryP Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Assuming that what we see in the screenshot is the entire screen, I think it’s worth noting that if the user cannot see any menus, they might have to try making a menu selection via the keyboard. For instance, to activate “Toggle UI” from the View menu they would have to (on Windows) press the Alt key (to activate the menu), then press the V key (for the View menu) and then press the T key (for the “Toggle UI” option). EzGlider Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Try pressing the Tab keyboard key before opening the New Document window, or after you create a new document. The New Document box opens automatically when I open Affinity, so there is no choice there If I hit ALT V then I get the following choices open up... I then pushed the Tab key and it moved me to views and when you get to views it says <None> Back to the New Document Box, If I click account all seems right. If I click New I can pick A$ and make other selections, but as soon as I hit create the New Document box disappears. If I click open it will et me select a file from my computer, but when I hit the open button then the New Document box disappears. Once the New Document box disappears I cannot restore it without completely closing Affinity then reopening it at which time I will get the black background screen with a New Document box. Again thanks for your patience and support Quote

What do you click to start it running? If you can find in Explorer an Affinity *.afphoto file, what happens if you double-click on it? 13 minutes ago, EzGlider said: If I click New I can pick A$ and make other selections, but as soon as I hit create the New Document box disappears. That is how it is supposed to work. What happens if you then tap the Tab key on your keyboard? Also, you first said you have 3 screens. Have you looked on all 3 of them for the UI? EzGlider Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Sorry for the delay, I was travelling.. Well when I got home I was able to make it work. I had a problem where the windows toolbar was not retracting when you were not hovering over it so it covered the affinity toolbar... Hopefully I have that part resolved. I was able to import photos, stitch a panorama, etc. so things are looking up. Thanks for everyone's help. Be Safe, EZ GarryP 1 Quote
