Hi, I have been working on this file until earlier today then all of a sudden I wasn't able to open it any longer and I get the message "type not supported". The file is on my hard disk, shows 13Mb as size. Any idea? It's school work due in in a couple of days! Thanks

Hi @Ales08 and welcome to the forums,

Is your Publisher file one you’re able to upload, or if not DM or provide a link to so we can take a look… I appreciate if that’s not an option…

Hi @Ales08,

Many thanks for the link. So we can download the file, you will need to grant access to the file or folder... I've sent a request via Google Drive...

Thanks for that...

It looks as though there is an element of file corruption with your file, the footer appears truncated. Hopefully, though there are no guarantees, someone in the Development team will be able to take a look to see whether or not the file can be recovered...

In the meantime, as I'm conscious you have a deadline to meet, do you have a backup of the file you can revert to, working on the assumption that it's likely the file won't be recoverable?

Many thanks for this. Unfortunately I have no back up at all of the file or the text I have been including. Is there any automatic cache that I should be looking into to see whether I can recover something?

Sadly I don't believe so, sometimes when a file crashes you may be prompted to open a recovery file but when the file is corrupt there is very little you can do about it...

Someone in the Dev team may be able to do something to recover the file or parts of it but I don't think we can rely on that being an option at the moment...

How long is the document, is it going to take a lot to recreate from scratch...

Unfortunately it will take many hours, recovering even a small portion of the document would be very helpful.

Hopefully, someone in the Serif Dev team can take a look to see if they can recover any part of the file but there are unfortunately no guarantees that it will be possible...

Just upload it to the forum

Many people won't download files from other links

Hi @Ales08,

I'm unable to access the document from your drive link, If you could upload the file to the dropbox link below we can get this logged with the developers. Please note that recovery of your document isn't guaranteed and this is primarily for the team to investigate the cause of corruption, as such we wouldn't be able to provide a timeframe and advise reverting to a backup if possible.

If you could also answer the questions in our FAQ post below to the best of your knowledge this will aid the investigation process:

Thanks!
