Amoebe Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 (edited) Dear support team, first of all: Affinity is great. When working with InDesign, I always had a kind of fear to start because the interface was a bit intimidating. Affinity Publisher is more intuitive and helps me into a creative flow. Now the small bug I encounter is with the master page. I am writing a recipe booklet but the text I type in on the normal pages copies itself onto the master page so that other recipes have the text from other recipes even though I haven't written anything there yet. However, when I remove the invasive text from the master page, it disappears from everywhere in the normal pages including from the recipe where it should be. In the attached file, this is visible like this: The "glutenfreie Nudeln mit Wildhack" recipe cooking instructions are in the master page, too, although I had written them only on the pages derived from the master page. The "Bananen-Eis" ingredients and instructions do not appear only there, but also partly in the master page and completely in the "Zimtsterne" recipe that should be empty still. With thanks and a kind request for help, Monique master page bug.afpub Edited December 23, 2024 by Amoebe typo ("hat" instead of "had") Quote
Komatös Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hello @Amoebe and welcome to the forums. The only bug I can see in your document is that you placed the texts on the master page and not on the layout pages. I took the liberty of structuring your document a little, especially the master pages. master page _new.afpub Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.3194) Affinity Suite V 2.6.1 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? I wrote the recipes into the layout pages and they appeared in the master pages themselves and spread to other layout pages from there. Thanks for your re-structured version; I'll stick to mine because in the new one, the "Nudeln mit Wildhack" recipe has vanished and in the old one I deliberately split up the boxes on the right side because otherwise the text was too far away from the bullet points and I could not fix that in the paragraph formats. Dear Lucien48Crow, the text frames on the right-side layout pages are linked to each other (text from small box flows into big box) but as far as I know they are not linked to the master pages. Could you specify where exactly I should check? Quote
Bad_Wolf Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Hi Amoebe, Komatös is correct, you are working on the master page. You can see that bottom-left, were the name of the master page Zwei Rezepte is visible. When you work on the page itself, then for example "2,3 of 8" is visible there at the bottom-left instead of the name of the master page Zwei Rezepte. Quote
Amoebe Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Hi Bad_Wolf, I checked again, looking at the bottom-left page name / number - I was not working on the master page but really on the page itself. When I cut out the text from the master page and insert it on the page itself, part of it or all of it re-appears on the master page. It is that weird. Bad_Wolf 1 Quote

It would be useful to see screenshots of that, including the complete application window, please. Or the same, but with a screen recording. Bad_Wolf Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Hello Amoebe, I downloaded your Publisher file (bug) again. Then I went to the masterpage and first cut all the text from the text frame on the right page and copied it to page 8. The text appeared on page 8 but was gone on the masterpage as expected. Then I restored everything and cut the whole text frame on the master right page. Then copied the whole frame on page 8 again. The text frame appeared on page 8 and was remove on the right page of the master page. It is indeed a very weird behaviour which I cannot explain. Maybe somebody else can? Maybe you can make a screen recording of the full screen to show this weird behaviour? I hope you find a solution soon. Quote
