gfa Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 affinity 1.10.8 wants to replace fonts, maybe a naming issue: trying to replace regular with bold is not accepted, dropdown flips back to regular. creating the fonts, e.g. as bold or light inside a new doc is no issue, they work fine. example file attached. kenmcd Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Affinity apps have name issues with font super families especially on macOS. As long as they use the macOS font handling it will never work correctly. Core Text does not have the "hooks" to properly handle style-linking. Note: love Sofia Sans - great fonts! Sofia Sans is a bit unusual in that it has very long names (which can cause issues). (kinda surprised that Google Fonts accepted them like that). And the fonts have some duplicate weight settings. (Thin and ExtraLight are both 250) When using the macOS guessing-based-on-weights method of style linking, this can be an additional problem. The Semi Condensed family does not even appear in the font menu in Affinity 1 or 2. So I renamed the Semi Condensed fonts and fixed the weights. Names are now shorter and the weights are all unique. Sofia Sans Semi Condensed became Sofia Sans SmCd Sofia Sans SmCd does now appear in the font menu. Tested the fonts in APub 1.10.6 on Win 10 - and they seem to be working. So give these fonts a try: Sofia-Sans-SmCd-renamed-fonts.zip These fonts can be installed at the same time as the original Sofia Sans fonts. Should be no name conflicts. Alfred 1 Quote
