If I create a line drawing (perhaps by tracing an image) in Illustrator I will (possibly) end up with a combination of closed object and lines. For example, create a circle then bisect the circle with a line (ideally the line nodes end exactly on the circle border). I'd like to be able to select all of the objects (lines and shapes) comprising the design and convert everything to closed shaped. So in the example of the circle, will would end of with two closed shapes (i.e. two half circles). Illlustrator - pathfinder- divide seems to accomplish that. Is there any way to do the same thing in designer.

Ultimately I'm trying to trace in image and then end of with a collection of closed shapes. I don't really want to "go over" the same line more than one time.

Thanks.

Hi @richryan51 and welcome to the forums,

As unintuitive as it might sound, you may find the knife tool helpful. Take the example of your circle bisected with a line. Instead of drawing the bisecting line with the pen or pencil tool, if you use the knife tool to draw the line instead and set it to auto-close, it will give you two closed shapes.

Perhaps experiment to see whether it is viable for your workflow and what you're trying to achieve...
