There was another report of this issue within the past week, too. I don't know if this is a logged bug yet.

The workaround for now is to copy/paste the text from Word instead of placing it. I verified that the endnotes are created properly when pasting text from the clipboard.

You cannot "select"  a word doc including the endnotes. it is eiher one of them, and then they lose the relationshiop by the numbers.

If you copy text in MS Word that includes an endnote reference marker and then paste that into Publisher, the endnote should be copied and pasted along with the main text. Don't select the text in the endnote manually.

If you're still unable to do this, could you share a screen recording of how it's working for you?

Strange thinghs keep happening. Following your advice I copied an article, the endnotes appeared fine.

TGhen, in the same afpub, I copied a zsecond article with endnotes, and then the following happens:

- there appears an endote-list

- some (only SOME, a minority) of the endnotes has kit's text cut into 2 parts: one part is in tghe end-note list, gthe olther part appears as uppershift in the text.

Picture 1 is the endnotelist in Word
Pictures 2 and 3 how they appear in Affinity.

This issue is coupled on the Word doc, it appearts too when I copy/paste this doc as first doc in a afpub.

There is a very clear issue with endnotes in Affinity Publisher. If this can't be solved, Publisher is not usable for serious magazines!

The above is not 100% complete: a second article with endnotes in the same afpub does NOT copy the endnotes at all!
This is very  queer, as I have created a magazine 3 months ago, which has 2 articles with endnotes. These articles were not copied byt Placed.

In some of the updates of Publisher the management of endnotes must have been corrupted.

I think we've previously seen a report of the issue with the endnote text being superscripted with the endnote marker instead of placed with the endnote. I don't recall what the cause of it was or if that issue was fixed but perhaps somebody else will know.

TRhanks. I found a way around this issue, but it is more wrok: I do not use references as a word option, butr create my own table as just text. Nasty thin g is when youy want to add "notes"  later on in trhe midst of the text, yoyu must re-number in the text and at the end in the notes. But this is 100% safe
