I notice that when I create a footnote, the descenders in my font text are below my margins on the page. It wouldn't matter except that I'm formatting for Amazon, and they'll flag it and won't let me approve the book.

See below - the 'g' and 'p' are way lower than I want it to be.

Is there a way to fix this so the entire letter is within the footnote?

It's not just footnotes, KDP won't like descenders below the frame without footnotes, too. AFAIK, you can't direct Affinity to ensure characters fit entirely inside a frame. You might want to just make the frame a bit shorter to ensure any descenders are safely tucked inside.

Also ensure you set optical alignment off unless you've allowed space for punctuation and so on to hang outside the frame.

I wondered if there was something else I could try.

How about a positive Baseline Shift for the footnote text style? Or, as text frame attribute, a bottom Inset?
