faulknermano Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Summary of issue I'm trying to close a lasso selection loop by double-clicking, but it seems that AP is not recognising it. I'm using a XP-PEN Deco Pro (Gen2) with an X3 Pro pen. Quote What Application are you using? [Designer/Photo/Publisher] Affinity Photo 2.5.7 (latest release version) Quote Can you reproduce it? (if you cannot then we may struggle to also, making it even harder to fix) Yes I can reproduce it. Steps: I'm using XP-PEN Deco Pro LW, X3 Pro pen. I'm using the latest XP-PEN drivers. I've disabled Windows Ink in the XP-PEN driver panel, and not in mouse mode. When I am in AP, I switch to the Lasso Tool, and make a polygonal and/or freehand selection. According to the quick help at the bottom of the AP ui, it tells me that if I double-click it will close the selection. When I double-click using the XP-PEN it doesn't work. If I double-click using the mouse, it works. I checked the double-click of the XP-PEN in other scenarios: When I double-click on a folder in Windows Explorer, I enter the folder normally, which shows that that pen's double-click works. In Photoshop, I try the Lasso Tool, also. Double-click with the pen closes the selection confirming that the double-clicking of the pen is recognised in Photoshop. Quote Does it happen for a new document? If not can you upload a document that shows the problem? It does not seems to be related to the document. It happens on new ones as well as existing ones. Quote What is your operating system and version (Windows 11, OSX Ventura, iOS 16 etc)? Windows 10. Quote Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?) I've tried both settings, and they don't have any effect. I've opened a topic in the support forum to ask advice if anyone has encountered the same issue using XP-PEN, but no one has confirmed or given advice about whether XP-PEN is the problem. Quote

Note: The Freehand Selection Tool set to freehand does not require a double-click to close it but the polygonal setting does, which may explain the confusion in your linked thread As regards the Affinity apps, the only setting I know that is related to the use of a pen are Tablet Input Measure which can be found in the Tools section of Edit > Settings 1. There are 3 options you can try; each will require you to restart the app to test them 2. Also, I once had a mouse that conflicted with my Pen (Wacom), so you may also want to do a test without a mouse connected just to eliminate that possibility. 3. I would also try restarting your PC. Do NOT do a shutdown of your PC then manually restart it with the on/off switch. You want the restart option that will automatically shut down and restart the PC without any additional user intervention. (A restart and a shutdown do different things - A restart totally clears cached data, a shutdown does not) Happy hunting faulknermano 1 Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. walt.farrell Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Just a guess: the target area for double-clicking on a node is much smaller than the target area for double-clicking on a folder name. It's possible that when you try this with your pen you're moving the pen tip slightly, and missing that small target area. In that case, if your tablet settings have an option where you can decrease the sensitivity of the pen (in regards to location) that might help. faulknermano Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 @carl123, the Tablet Input Measure indeed fixed the behaviour. Thanks for that! I had it originally in High precision; when set to either Low precision or Windows Ink, the double-click works. @walt.farrell Quote Just a guess: the target area for double-clicking on a node is much smaller than the target area for double-clicking on a folder name. Yeah, I really tried being precise, but I could tell that my double-clicks (made faster and faster) were at most a pixel apart. But having found the solution in either Low precision/Windows Ink, I wonder if there's something to what you're saying... Callum and walt.farrell 2 Quote
