Edward L Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I have placed an image and now need to crop off the blank parts of the image. I've done this before and it was very simple, but I've now forgotten how to do it. Please remind me. Quote
R C-R Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Does it show as an Image or Pixel layer in the Layers panel? By "blank" do you mean some transparent parts of the file or something else? Are you able to go into the Photo persona & use the Flood Select (magic wand) Tool to select these 'blank' parts? Edward L Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 It's just a black & white line drawing that is aligned with the top lefthand corner of the page. It appears on top of a colour image which has a large blank space where the line drawing should go. But because there is lots of white space at the righthand side and at the bottom, these white areas block out parts of the image underneath. So I just want to trim off the blank areas. I've done it before and I know it's easy to do, but I've forgotten how. Quote

OK, but what does the Layers panel show for its layer type? If you are not sure, hover the pointer over the icon at the left of that layer. A popup will tell you what kind of layer it is. And again, can you go into the Photo persona & use the Flood Select (magic wand) Tool to select these 'blank' parts? If you cannot tell us any more about this, it will be very hard to help you figure out what you have & how best to resolve it. Catshill Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 If you use a picture frame to hold the image, you can use the the resize tool icon that lies just beneath it to increase the size and by so doing, crop the image. This might suit your needs. Quote
Edward L Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 Hi Carl, I'm very new to Publisher and find it very complicated because it's so comprehensive. There was no Layers panel visible, so I clicked on Layer in the top menu and the Layers panel opened. I then clicked on the image I want to trim/crop but I can't see the Tools Panel. Where do I find it? Thanks. Quote

It's a vertical panel that contains all the tools If you still can't find it, upload a screenshot of the full interface and we will sort out what's happening for you Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. GarryP Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 See attached image (which is for Designer but it’s the same for Publisher, and Photo). Quote

Edward L Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 Oh silly me, I was looking at the right side. Yes that's it. I tried using before but it didn't work as I hadn't selected the image. Thank you everyone for your help. Quote
