This sounds like a known bug in v2.5.7 logged under AF-5244 where the variable axes slider skips between axes presets... It affects the 2.5.7 retail version but works correctly in the 2.6.0.2950 Beta version...

In v2.5.7, if you first set the weight to 100 and then drag the roundness slider, the weight slider will work, but it will fail between 780 and 900.

This is not exactly the same as the performance in the AF-5244, where the word weights are correctly recognized but the degree of rounding cannot be correctly adjusted, as in the video below

Basically in 2.5.7 on Mac when the weight slider exceeds 790 the roundness slider is forced back to zero... On Windows, the Roundness slider isn't functioning at all in 2.5.7 on Windows...
