Howdy, folks. I feel like I must be having a brain fart. Got the new 2.5.7 update notification and downloaded the MSIX/EXE installers which is what I used to install the apps originally on my new machine.

When I installed 2.5.5 originally a couple of months ago, I used the EXE versions and the apps all installed to C:\Program Files\. With the new 2.5.7 installers, I've tried using the MSIX/EXE version but it installs it as a MS App in the App folder instead of Program Files so that afterward I have both 2.5.5 and 2.5.7 installed side by side as traditional and app versions.

I uninstalled the app version and redownload the installer thinking I clicked the wrong one but it is still doing it. Tried checking the forum and the update log and don't see anything related to this. I'm on Windows 11, latest version. Any ideas? Is anyone else experiencing this or am I just having an ID10T/PEBCAC error?

Thanks.

There is no MSIX/EXE version. There are two versions:

  1. MSIX
  2. MSI/EXE

If you're using the MSIversion it lets you click on Update, and then it automatically downloads and installs the update and restarts the application. If you're using MSI/EXE, it lets you click on Download, and then you are responsible for choosing the correct file to download (be sure to choose MSI/EXE), and then you close the application and run the installer.

It sounds like you chose the wrong version when you reached the download site, which is a common problem that I wish Serif would address, but they haven't so far.
