I am over this package not opening it's own files!!!

This is the pop up I get today, please help.

/Users/admin/Library/Mobile Documents/6LVTQB9699~com~seriflabs~affinitydesigner/Documents/MR Records 2024/MR Records Logo/MR RECORDS_LOGO_Transparent Background. new style r in Records_For CD logos_fnl.afdesign

The file could not be opened because permission was denied.

I’m not a Mac user, but I think that assigning a file name like

MR RECORDS_LOGO_Transparent Background. new style r in Records_For CD logos_fnl.afdesign

is asking for trouble. The dot/period before the ‘afdesign’ filename extension should be the only one in the file name, but you have another one after ‘Background’; having such a long name and including spaces is also less than ideal.

I’m not a Mac user either but the /Users/admin/Library/Mobile Documents/ location seems to be for iCloud storage and the Affinity applications don’t work very well with non-local storage for some people.

The current general recommendation is to only open Affinity files which are stored in local storage, such as a physically/permanently installed hard drive.

... and isn't Cloud folder, that is under Cloud management control.

Is it possible to copy the file to another location, such as your documents folder, and try opening it there?

The message you are getting is not from Affinity. It is from the macOS, telling you that you do not have sufficient permissions to open files stored in that location. This is likely because you are not currently using an admin account (note that the file path begins with "/Users/admin/Library/") so using an admin account would be necessary to access it from that location.

This is in addition to what has been said about avoiding opening files directly from iCloud or cloud-managed folders.

Thank you all for your input. You were all correct.

I have changed the file names now and did a restart on my mac and things are working again.

I feel  a little silly with this but, I did have problems with my photo files awhile ago and flipped out a bit.

Thanks again everyone.

Pete
