N Hodghton Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I want to place a small photo on a page. I've set the size of the photo on Photoshop, 5cm wide. But it seems that the photo fills the picture frame regardless of the size I set on Photoshop. Is that correct? If so do I need to bother with setting the photo size, just use the picture frame? GarryP Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Assuming that you are using a Picture Frame in Publisher (best to say which application you're using so we can be sure), with the Picture Frame selected you can use the Properties button in the Context Toolbar to set the Scaling/Stretching to be None and you should get what I think you want. If that doesn’t do what you want then we might need more details with a full-screen screenshot and/or an example document. Yurembo 1 Quote
N Hodghton Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Thanks for the help. I'm using Publisher. I'll try to remember to state that on future questions. For what I'm doing I don't really need Designer or Photo. I'm having enough trouble understanding Publisher! Norman Quote Using Publisher
GarryP Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Thanks for telling us which application you’re using. In this case I thought you might be using Publisher, because you mentioned picture frames, but you might have been editing a Publisher document in Photo or Designer. Some people use their forum ‘signature’ to tell people which applications they have and which versions they are using, so they don’t need to keep repeating the information. You can add/change those details somewhere in your forum Profile but I’ve never done that myself. (Publisher is arguably the more complex of the three Affinity applications so if you get Designer or Photo later you’ll probably find them easier to use for most things.) Quote
N Hodghton Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Thanks. I've added Publisher to my Signature (I think I have!) I'm editing the magazine for the National Cycle Museum (https://www.cyclemuseum.org.uk/Default.aspx), there are just photos and text, nothing specially artistic. So I can't see myself using the other two apps. Norman Quote Using Publisher

So I can't see myself using the other two apps. You have added Publisher to your Signature. I find all three applications quite useful, in your particular case Publisher is maybe the only one you'll need. Picture frames are really quite useful and they have so many functions it can be daunting to try and find out what works best. Then there are the two Text Frames, Frame Text text frames and Art Text text frames. The former is for the stories and the latter is useful for headlines. I would suggest that you learn about Text Styles, Paragraph and Character Styles.
