Richard127 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hi there. Just updated to the latest Beta 2.6.0.2950 and I get a Shutdown Crash when I use the keyboard shortcut "Shift/Ctrl/Alt/N" to paste a clipboard image. This happens every time. I am able to use the menu item "File: New From Clipboard". It's just the keyboard shortcut causing the crash. Quote
MikeTO Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hi Richard, I think you meant to post in the beta forum. Is this happening for you in all three apps or just in Photo? Could you try changing the source of the clipboard contents? If for example it was copied from Photo, perhaps copy from MS Paint? What happens if you change the shortcut to something else like, perhaps try Ctrl N, replacing the normal shortcut for New, just for a test. Richard127 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Sorry MikeTo, didn't see the Beta Forum. I only have the Photo Beta, so I can only speak for that. Photo closes the second I try pasting anything, from any source (I've tried a few). I did try changing the shortcut to just ctrl/alt N, and also ctrl/shift/¬ but they both still caused a crash/shutdown. Quote
Richard127 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 I've also tried 2 different keyboards in different USB slots. Quote
MikeTO Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Do you have a clipboard manager installed? If so, try disabling it. If not, I think based on the following threads, Serif is going to want to see a crash report and full details of your CPU, GPU, and GPU drivers. Richard127 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 Turning off Hardware Acceleration didn't work. Quote
Richard127 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 OK. There is something very wrong here. I've done some testing and found the following... Start Affinity Photo 2.6.0.2950 Touch Windows Start key on Keyboard: Instant Crash Start AP as above Key ctrl/n for new document: Instant Crash Start AP as above Key ctrl/shift/Alt n for paste from Clipboard: Instant Crash Start AP as above Create new document from app File menu: No problem Key Windows/v to select image to paste: AP pastes image normally After step 9 I can use Shift/Ctrl/Alt n to paste the same image from clipboard as many times as I like without crash Try pasting a new image with Shift/Ctrl/Alt n: Instant Crash. Note: Using app File menu for all these operations doesn't seem to cause any problems Restart AP Beta as above Go back to step 6. Instant crash again I've tried turning off Hardware Acceleration and turning off Clipboard history. Neither worked. Even stranger... Once opening AP Beta and creating a blank new document from the App File Menu, I can paste in as many new documents as I want, and use any other keyboard shortcuts without issue. It only seems to be happening when there is a blank screen after first opening the App. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Quote
Staff James Ritson Posted December 8, 2024 Staff Posted December 8, 2024 Apologies, this was due to an oversight when implementing the Ctrl+Enter override for text input (committing text and switching to the Move Tool rather than doing "Convert to Curves"). It was fixed the next morning but didn't make it into 2950, the next beta build will be fine. _Th, PetervL and MikeTO 1 2 Quote @JamesR_Affinity for Affinity resources and more Official Affinity Photo tutorials
Richard127 Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 Thanks James. Good to know it wasn't just an issue with my PC. Great product. Great customer service. Quote
Staff Affinity Info Bot Posted December 10, 2024 Staff Posted December 10, 2024 An issue raised in this thread ("[Win] Using Any Keyboard Shortcut Causes the Affinity Apps to Close ") has now been reported to the developers by the testing team (Ref: AF-5258). Thank you very much for reporting this issue to us. Quote
