Hi I wondered if anyone could help with an import issue?

I’m placing a Word document (.docx) into Affinity and it won’t allow me to use the Italics or Bold functions on the text - it just remains greyed-out - and I can’t find a work around. The font I am using in Word in Garamond. The project has a considerable number of pages and quotes in italics and bold headings, so it’s a bit of a problem. Any help greatly appreciated  - Sorry forgot to add working on Mac

Thank you

Is this your own word document? If not, do you have exactly the same version of Garamond installed, including the italics and bold versions?

Hello Paul

Thank you for your reply. The Garamond  font is the one I placed with Word into a Text Box. I can see Garamond listed but not sure  it's just taken this from Word, or Affinity has Garamond in its font list.

In the font family combo box,  what do you see for Garamond?

For example on my system; Times New Roman is installed in 4 variants (Regular, Bold, Bold Italic and Italic) - others such as TokyoSoft exist only in one style; so I cannot apply bold or italic formatting to that font in Affinity.

(Other fonts blurred purely to make it dearer which bit's we're looking at!)

Can I install new fonts into Affinity?

Adding fonts is a feature of the OS - Affinity will use whatever fonts are available to the OS.
