Affinity Designer V2 and the other two Programs crash when trying to change typeface

Hey there, I am new to Affinity so I was just playing around when I realized that that the font menu was not showcasing the different typefaces that it usually does in other software.

The problem is only in the Affinity programs the other software like Inkscape, Word doc. are working just fine.

Also when I try to change the font my clicking on some other font other than the default Ariel the program suddenly freezes and then stops working all together.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling software and also updating my Windows 10.

Now I am not a very techy person and some things might be a bit difficult for me to do but please help me how to solve it????

Hi @Sam14 and welcome to the forums,

1. When you scroll the font list are you still not seeing all the fonts you have installed?
2. Is the App freezing when switching from Arial to any font or only when trying to select a specific font?

I did not see any of the Installed fonts that I initially had in my system but the Affinity program has its default fonts, right?

 And yes the software freezes whenever I try changing from Ariel to any other font.

Hi @Sam14,

The Affinity apps only show the fonts you have installed on Windows, I was curious as to whether when scrolling the Font list you were seeing all the fonts you were expecting to see as the list only currently shows A to C (plus Dubai)... Roughly how many fonts do you have installed?

Thanks for confirming the software is freezing whenever you change from Arial to any other font...

Which Windows Font Manager are you using?

Hi @Hangman ,

I checked the software and it shows all the fonts I installed on Windows.

I looked for specific fonts and they were there but I can't say how many fonts I have installed roughly 50 to 100 not that many.

I have a font manager called 'FontBase' recently but usually, I just download the font, install it and that's it.

So it sounds as though the apps are displaying all your installed fonts but the issue is purely that the apps are freezing when selecting fonts, is that correct?

Are there any particular fonts you've installed recently? If so I'd be inclined to uninstall those, reboot your PC and see whether you still experience the same freezing issue. My best guess is that one particular font is likely to be causing the problem but it's difficult to know since everything is working as expected in other apps...

Others in the forum may have some alternative suggestions...

I have not installed new fonts recently but I will try uninstalling the ones I have. 

The problem with the software aside from it freezing up is also that I am unable to preview the fonts which we could usually see right beside the font name.

But Thanks I will try uninstalling the fonts first.
