Crashes with 2.5.5 and 2.5.6

I am still fairly new to Affinity Photo and I started with 2.5.5 a few weeks ago. Now, I am using 2.5.6.

A few times (maybe 3 or 4 times), it would just close on me while doing something "basic". Just now, I had placed a photo and moved it into the layer below. I was just moving the photo to center it, and it closed without any warning.

What should I do to make this report useful for the R&D team?

I am using Windows 10.

I've also noticed this. I'm on Photo 2.5.6 and it sometimes closes ** even when it's just minimazid with no active document.

Something is very buggy on these versions. It's either something on a recent windows 11 update or on Nvidia or Intel specific system drivers.

What hardware are you running?

j’ai également un problème de crash entre les 2 versions. Je travaillais sur un pc portable avec la version 2.5.5 et j’ai acheté un PC fixe plus puissant que je viens d’installer. Je n’ai pas fait attention au fait que la version n’est pas la même. Mon fichier affinity publisher ne veut plus accepter de modification, il me dit que mon fichier est corrompu. j’essaye de l’entegistrer à un autre endroit et sous un autre nom et il refuse. sur disque dur externe je suis allé le lire à nouveau sur mon pc portable j’ai ou travailler dessus mais impossible de l’enregistrer sous un autre nom. et après avoir fermé et redémarrer mon ordi portable il me dit maintenant que le fichier est corrompu. Je suis complètement bloquée. je ne sais pas quoi faire. 3 mois de travail sont pour l’instant perdus.

Please could you try navigating to Edit > Preferences and under performance try disabling Open CL to see if this solves your issue?

@Nick XN & @nldes landes please could you make separate threads for your issues as they don't seem to the be the same as OP's.

I will do it. Yesterday, as I was working (and using 2.5.7 at the time), it also crashed. It is not frequent but I'll report if it does it again.

That didn't take long. It did crash again, just after I closed one project. And the Open CL is unchecked, as you instructed:

Now, using 2.5.7, I just had a crash while recording a macro.

Affinity has been crashing in simple situations, like after opening a RAW file, for example, without even starting editing. It also crashes when recording macros, among other things. It seems that the problem is not with a specific action, but with something that affects several layers.
