AP2 - Exported JPEG-XL doesn't include EXIF data?

When I export to JPEG-XL, a photo's EXIF data isn't embedded in the resulting image when viewed in MacOS 15.1.1 (running on a MBP 13" M1 laptop) in Preview app and Pixelmator Pro 3.6.13. The original RAW photos were shot with 3 different cameras (Olympus & Lumix mirrorless) and definitely contain EXIF metadata.

Is this expected behavior? (I searched this forum but didn't find an answer.) Thanks.
