Opacity in Affinity Designer (windows)

and welcome here …  :)

 

The opacity slider on the colour panel controls the opacity of the fill or of the stroke of your object, while the opacity slider at the top of the layers list controls the opacity of your object as a whole. When you add a stroke to your rectangle, you will see what I mean. You can change the opacity of the rectangle’s fill and stroke independently, when using the sliders on the colour panel, and you can adjust the opacity of the object as a whole, when using the slider on top of the layers list. Hope that helps …
