Tiffania Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 hello I can't recreate this effect even with an ia. The gradient has a "mirror" appearance, like ice effects. Could you help me? Quote
George-Frazee Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 It looks like possibly an FX applied to the layer and/or a gradient applied to the stroke. Quote M1 Macbook Pro 16gb RAM Sonoma 14.5 Affinity Designer 2.6.0
PaulEC Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I'm not sure what you mean by "even with an ia.", which Affinity app are you using? I'm sure you're right, but how does "I can't recreate this effect even with an AI." relate to recreating a gradient in Affinity? Hence the query about what app the OP is using! ECLombardo Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 (edited) This sort of effect is usually created by adding highlight layers on top of another layer which is filled with the base color or gradient. I’ll try to explain: you color the bottom (or base) layer either a solid pink or a pink gradient going from your base pink color to a slightly darker shade. Then in the layer above, which I call the highlight, you use the lasso tool to select the area you where want the highlight to appear, and create a light gradient using the “icy” colors of pink. Set the last gradient color to an opacity of zero. It will then look like the icy highlight is fading into the bottom base color. Adjust the gradient colors as needed. Sorry I hope that makes sense. Good luck! Elaine *EDITED TO ADD* - Also, sometimes you need to created several "highlight" layers to call out different areas or to have them overlap, setting them to different blend modes like overlay or screen, and as far as the outline you can apply a dark to bright gradient in its own layer in spots to show shadows and sharper highlights. Again, I hope I explained it, I'm so used to doing it myself but not so good at explaining it, lol. Good luck again! Edited December 4, 2024 by ECLombardo Added extra info PaulEC 1 Quote

If your base colour is pink, the gradient colour doesn’t need to be pink, too: you can simply use a layer filled with white which has a gradient transparency applied. That’s a more flexible approach, anyway, since it allows you to use any base instead of only areas with solid fills. 4 hours ago, R C-R said: Just guessing but probably a typo for "ai" (artificial intelligence). Artificial intelligence should be abbreviated as AI. An ai (lower case) is a sloth. 🦥 PaulEC 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
ECLombardo Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Totally right, Alfred. Thanks for adding that! Alfred 1 Quote
