    REQUESTS

  1.         alignment tools:
    • please create a setting that configures all alignment tools to work the same consistently.
      • setting: 'first selected, last selected, etc' as an example
      • action: select the first element, second, ... then click 'Align Top' toolbar icon. Instantly all objects are aligned to the top of the first selected object.
      • reason: The current method is inconsistent and adds additional clicks to the process, adding potentially hundreds of extra clicks to a days work. The current process requires me to make the selection of objects, then click open the 'Alignment' button group, then the alignment option(s) I want, then either click apply, or click off the button group to complete the task. Having a setting that allows a default behavior would shorten that process to Select #1, Select #(x), Click desired align (top/left/mid/...) and the task is done.

  2.          file > export:
    • if document artboard is selected, automatically set export area to selected artboard.
    • if an object, or collection of objects is selected, automatically set 'export selection'

  3.         app or suite wide 'lock aspect ratio = true' setting
    • reason: currently even if the lock aspect ratio is enabled in the transform panel that setting is lost after closing the application or after a system restart. Having a default option to enable that for all new documents and for all documents re-opened, if the setting was enabled when the document was last saved, would make a rather consistent annoyance disappear.

ISSUES / UNEXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Photo & Designer:

  • after 'placing' a multi-page pdf file with printer marks, page one looks as expected. The artwork is centered and no printer/crop marks are visible. However, changing using the 'Artboard: Page #'' select drop-down and changing from the default first page, the content is no longer centered and printers crop marks are visible. Going back to page one looks as expected.

         Publisher works ask expected

@SG Pilgrim: Enhancement requests need to be posted in the Feedback part of the forum, one request per topic as mentioned in the guidelines for that section.

I'm not sure what's happening with your Place issue; I'll take a look later and see if I can recreate it. It would help if you could share the PDF file.

I've attached the pdf for you.

For the feature requests, I'll go ahead and create separate posts for them. Thank you for pointing that out, I should have caught that requirement.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hi SG Pilgrim,

I'm not sure why your PDF is placing in this way however if you set the PDF passthrough to interpret on the context tool bar it should solve this issue.

Thanks

Thanks @Callum I had come to that "fix" but was rather hoping not to need the extra clicks to the get the same result.

Such is life. Truly, if that's the worst of my problems, life is gooood!
