I'll try to recompose this experience:

  1. I run Affinity Photo 2.5.5
  2. An update is proposed to 2.5.6
  3. I download the msi version of the installer
  4. I close 2.5.5 and run the installer
  5. I'm left with 2 versions of Photo, the 2.5.6 impossible to find (but booting with a link), the 2.5.5 still present
  6. I use IObit uninstaller to get rid of every trace of Photo
  7. I download the exe version of the installer and run it
  8. Everything normal with the Photo app under its normal path: c:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo 2

Strange, mysterious behaviour!

It sounds like you now have one MSIX version and one MSI/EXE version installed. I can’t tell from your description which is which.

(Updating the MSIX version can be done via the application without manually downloading.)

See here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/180014-how-do-i-download-affinity-v2-windows-msiexe-un-sandboxed-versions/

If this is true then you will need to decide which one to keep (and maybe upgrade) and which one to uninstall.
