Setting Dictionary in Affinity 2

Recommended Posts

I am having difficulty setting the default dictionary in Affinity Publisher 2.

I am in South Africa but my Windows system Dictionary is English UK. I removed the ZA version

When I try to check spelling in Affinity It keeps reporting that Dictionary en-ZA is not found.

Yet under Edit ~ Settings it shows English (United Kingdom)

If I change this to English (united States) and Restart the same error - Dictionary en-ZA is not found -shows up.

I can change between UK and US restarting between changes and the error keeps repeating.

Does anyone know how to fix this behaviour?

Thanks for listening.

Hi, you'll find the setup instructions in my free Publisher manual which is available as a PDF download from this forum. There are a number of related things you should do - you can set the default spelling dictionary for the frame text tool and for the art text tool (they are separate settings!), the default hyphenation language (optional), and the default text style language (a must do). And then you might want to configure Auto Correct and more. Look for the Setting Languages topic in the Getting Started chapter.

Note that the en-ZA (English South Africa) dictionary is not pre-installed with Affinity for Windows so if you do want that dictionary you will have to download it and install it. There's a link to the installation instructions and download location in the Setting Languages topic.

Cheers
