Intuos5 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 When I edit a master's text and apply different masters to the two pages for a spread, the master's text can get duplicated. Steps to reproduce 1. Apply a blank Master A to a spread or to a single page 2. Apply a second master with a text frame to the other page 3. Change the master's text to a numbered list 4. Change the order of the pages and notice the text inside the master is duplicated 2024-11-29 13-50-10.mp4 2.6 numbered list dup.afpub Quote
Hangman Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Hi @Intuos5, If you change the Page Move Options under the Pages Panel Preferences from the default Move Master Content to Reapply Masters, does that rectify the duplication? Intuos5 Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 I shouldn't be changing the default option to move a page, now should I? Quote

Except the available options have increased and changed in v2.6... The default option, Move Master Content says: "Modified objects from master instances move with the page but un-modified master elements get replaced with the correct master elements for the new page location" In your screen recording, you've Modified the Master instance on the page by applying the Numbered List formatting so based purely on the description it appears to be doing what it says it will do... If you repeat the steps in your screen recording without modifying the Title Text, i.e. without applying the Numbered List formatting you won't see the duplicate text... Equally, the option, Reapply Masters says: "Masters are re-applied automatically with the Apply Master Migrate rules. This may promote content frames." Repeating the steps in your screen recording including applying the Numbered List formatting to the text again appears to follow the description... Whether the actual behaviour is as intended, based on the description for each option it appears to be though I think there is perhaps a case for being able to specify which default setting is appropriate for the document rather than the document defaulting to Move Master Content but equally, I'm unsure the intent of the developers in this regard... Intuos5 Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 Yes indeed, I also question the intent, because this doesn't appear to be a sensible default, especially because it changes the behaviour that we've come to expect from pre-2.6. Hangman 1 Quote
