Oh dear, my English. Let's assume, I have 6 decimal units, which works fine for me in the Transform panel. But it does not work e.g. in the field for text frame insets. Using the scroll wheel or the up and down arrows the values get changed too slow, so I have to switch to the keyboard down, which slows down the action.

Someone followed my thoughts until here? 🤦‍♂️

This is an old issue since v1. It affects several typography panels, not just Text Frame. I remember I've reported it a few times already and it may have even been assigned a bug report tag.

My workaround is to keep mm and pt at 2 decimal units. You can then still enter and apply finer decimal values into the fields, you just won't see them; the limit affects only the display, not the actual values (which is in fact part of the problem… :/)

Good idea, good compromise. Although I wish I could be solved by an additional setting. Perhaps by the ALT modifier? ALT and movement of the scroll wheel are changing the values at the same rate.

On Mac, the Option key is a 1/10th modifier whereas the Shift key is a 10× modifier.
But due to this bug both modifieres are affected by the decimal unit value in preferences.
