Mitalis Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I downloaded the affinity-photo-msi-arm64-2.5.5 package and installed it on my laptop. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 14Q8X9 which is using a Snapdragon(R) X Plus - X1P42100 - Qualcomm(R) Oryon(TM) CPU, Everytime I open Affinity photo, I get a blank error box. Beyond that as far as I can tell the application works fine. It's quite annoying. I searched on the forums and could not find any posts as to this... Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do to provide logs or some diagnostic that's leading to that pop-up? Quote
Nick XN Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Did you try disabling hardware acceleration? Quote
Mitalis Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Is that a setting within Affinity Photo or Windows 11's graphic settings? Quote
Nick XN Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Yes go to edit -> settings -> performance Quote
Mitalis Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Thanks Nick. Found it, disabled it, restarted Affinity photo, still got the blank pop-up error. Affinity also prompted me to an update v2.5.6. So I updated Affinity, launched the application again with & without hardware acceleration enabled/disabled, and I'm still getting the pop-up. Quote
MikeTO Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 If you quit Photo, does the alert go away? Are you able to quit Photo? Have you tried restarting Windows since you installed it? Are you able to type text in Photo? Good luck. MikeTO Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 My best guess is that it's some sort of access issue, but I don't know what so I'll defer to somebody with more knowledge of Windows issues. AiDon Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 You can get information from the event viewer, but the MSIX version works OK and I haven't tried the MSI version. If you don't want to install the MSIX version search for the Event Viewer, run that and then select Windows Logs, Applicatiion and find the error which will be listed with a Red icon and Error. You may need to enlarge the Source column to see the full name. Then, when you find one for Affinity Photo, double-click on it and copy the details and post it here. NOTE: There is an update to 2.5.6 which you should download and install to see if that corrects the issue. Sorry I can't help other than that as I have the same CPU as you do but on ASUS hardware running Windows 11 v24H2 (Build 26100.2454). Hope that support will see your post and be able to help. Staff NathanC Posted December 6, 2024 Staff Posted December 6, 2024 Hi @Mitalis, Not one we've seen before as far as i'm aware, the error message really doesn't give us much to go off. 😅 Could you upload a copy of your log.txt? On the MSI/EXE builds it can be found by opening 'Run' via WINDOWS + R and then entering the following: %APPDATA%/Affinity/Photo/2.0 Thanks Quote

Staff NathanC Posted December 12, 2024 Staff Posted December 12, 2024 Many thanks, nothing out of the ordinary in the Log.txt. When you next launch the app with the error still on screen, could you check in the 'Processes' tab to see what's creating this error and if it's listed under Affinity Photo expand menu or a separate process? A screenshot of this would be great. Quote
