Peachy Magazine Cover Experiment

Just a bit of fun, not a real thing.

I just thought I’d see what a ‘positive’ gossip magazine cover might look like.

Mostly done in Publisher with bits and bobs done in Designer.

To get the chocolates all you need to do is collect one voucher from each of the next 52 weekly issues and then send them together in an envelope to the address which will be given in an issue to be chosen randomly from those published in 2027.

Simply write you name, address, phone number, email address, mother’s maiden name, and full banking details on each voucher, fold each voucher into the shape of a flower, and then arrange them neatly in the envelope with the reverse side forward, diagonally aligned with the stamp, lengthwise.

Will you publish the name of the winner in 2027?

The names of the winners will be written as an acrostic which will be inter-spliced into the stories of 12 separate issues in 2027.

Someone in my socials said that they reckon that they heard from someone that the chocolates will possibly have fruit-flavoured fillings, and chatGPT tells me that each chocolate will contain a two carat diamond and that the consumption of only one of the chocolates makes you impervious to all forms of weather, so that’s certainly something we can totally depend upon and complain about if it doesn’t happen.

Not impervious to wind, apparently. My sources tell me that the chocolates will give you diarrhoea cos they're past their eat-by date...

Nice idea for a of project. I love how you gave the article headlines such a positive twist as oppose to the headlines on such magazines in real life

I've been a non-smoker for more than two decades, but the funny comments here almost made my cigar fall out of my mouth with laughter. 😂

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback.

The result wasn’t what I quite had in mind at first because I found that recreating covers like this is more difficult than I first thought.

Once you start looking properly at how this sort of cover – those on the real magazines, not my simple attempt – is constructed, you start to find all kinds of things that are more complicated than they look at first glance.

The way that the text fits just nicely into the space around the images which are overlaid/mixed in different ways, with all of the different colours and contrasting elements, all at different angles which adds extra complexity, so that everything comes together in a ‘tight’ layout is a good exercise in getting the most out of a single side of paper.

I think anyone who wants to test themselves would find it an interesting challenge.

Nice job! Struck a nice balance with all the elements. Like the fact that "I bought a really nice hat" is the main headline. Exercise or not its a great use of Publisher.
