I’d like to request a Trim feature in Affinity Photo, similar to the one in Photoshop. This feature in photoshop allows users to trim or crop the canvas size to the visible pixels on screen. For example, if a layer is masked, the canvas could be cropped to fit the visible pixels of that mask.

This function is particularly useful during the macro creation process -- and is the main reason I need it. It enables users to perform batch operations on multiple images—say, 30 or 40—where a subject is selected and masked, and then "trimmed" or cropped to the mask. But most importantly, it keeps the mask intact without rasterizing or losing any data.

While "Rasterize and Trim" combined with "Clip Canvas" gets close, it results in the loss of image data that I’d like to retain for potential mask adjustments for when the select subject misses. I’ve explored various options within the macro editor but haven’t found a solution.

If there’s a current way to achieve this, please let me know. Otherwise, please consider adding this Trim feature!

You can still do the above ("Rasterize and Trim" combined with "Clip Canvas") as when the batch file runs it creates an APhoto file for each image and APhoto automatically creates a snapshot of the image before the macro runs

So, if "Select Subject" fails for some images you can just restore the snapshot (the initial image) and redo/tweak "Select Same" as required

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Not a bad solution, but still a full reset. It would work, but still not as clean as a simple Clip Canvas to mask function/Trim would be
