Fionna Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Hello, It's November 2024 and I am still having similar issues to this thread with Affinity Photo. When I draw with certain brushes over an existing coloured layer, it causes some pixels to disappear. Undo/redo would sometimes result in a bigger area disappearing, so I often times just draw on a new layer to fill in the blanks, then merge to the layer beneath it. On another instance where the file doesn't experience any corruptions, I would be manually saving the file as I work, however when I exit the file and app, then re open the file, it doesn't show me the latest version, so basically I lost a few hours of work. I thought I am using too many layers or running out of storage space on my iPad, so I deleted some layers from the file, and also deleted some other junk files. Then redrew my project to bring it up to the latest version before it reverted back to the version from several hours ago. Then I saved multiple times but I don't see the file showing the saving in progress when I pressed the save button. So it makes me worried that it is not saving. When I exited from the file and reopened, it definitely stayed in the version from several minutes ago. Since this is my portfolio piece (not client work), I can find other ways to work on it and take the extra time, but to be honest i'm becoming very hesitant to keep using affinity photo because I have my day job and don't have a lot of time to draw, and with the few hours I have, it feels like it's going to be fruitless if my files are not being saved properly. I'm just wondering if this is because of the number of layers? Am I maybe using too many? I know the advantage of Affinity Photo is that we can use unlimited layers, but is there maybe a limit afterall? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted January 16 Staff Posted January 16 @Fionna Welcome to the forums. Are you still experiencing the issues you've outlined above and can you provide a screenshot of the visual corruption you're referring to. If you're on iPad, which version of the apps and iPadOS you're using? Can you also confirm your workflow for saving your file after working on it? Are you returning to the Live Docs screen and selecting to Save the file from there? If so did you choose the save the file locally on your iPad or on Cloud? Quote
