Somehow I'v lost the cross hatch lines that normally appear for centering an image and also when you bring in the lines from outside the image. Let's say I bring in the horizontal line from the top down, a red line would appear that lets me know it's good. I'm not sure why it's gone.

Unless I have misunderstood, that’s probably something to do with your Snapping options, either the options from the general Snapping pop-up on the Toolbar (see attached image), or those for the tool you are using on the Context Toolbar (if any are available for that tool).

The settings that you need to switch on will be dependant upon what you want to snap to.

I don't think that's it.In v1 or v2 on the far left row of icons I used to use the arrow to get what I need to do. When I click on it it shows me this attached pic. What I want to see is not that x in the corner.

By the way Snap is on.

If the handles are “X”es then either the layer is Locked (or, in a Publisher document, it’s on a Master Page).

Would it be possible for you to give us a full-screen screenshot (whole application UI) so we can see exactly what you can see as you are doing what you are doing?

Thanks for the screenshot.

In the Layers Panel, click the Padlock icon to the right of the locked layer’s name, or when the layer is selected press the Padlock icon at the top-right of the Layers Panel.

Or type locked into the application Help search box and follow the instructions there.

Thank you very much. One more thing. When I would grab one of the corners and pull in I would see a vertical and horizontal cross hatch I think it's called. That doesn't appear now. It helped me to know where the center was.

I don’t fully know what you mean by “cross hatch” as I understand that to be a form of shading via parallel/crossed lines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatching

I have an idea of what you mean I don’t know the correct term for it either.

There’s a setting for it somewhere, I think, but I can’t remember where it is.

Someone else will probably be able to tell you before I manage to dredge it up from my memory.

Yeah, those green and red lines are what I was thinking of but I can’t think of how to make them appear at the moment (I’ve never switched them off as far as I know, without turning Snapping off).

I would recommend removing the video from the post as it looks like it might contain some private information.

How do I turn off Snapping?

Uncheck “Enable Snapping” in the Snapping pop-up.

You had it switched ON in your screen-grab so you shouldn’t do that if you want to see the red/green lines.

I want to see the + symbol in the center of the image so I know where the center is.

Select the Move Tool, select an object, then click Enable Transform Origin in the context toolbar — the circle with crosshairs image.png.1581efb5b9ab53640af5df2886beed12.png.

See the attached video. I've lost the green and red lines now. I want to be able to bring the red and lines to the center of the image like I was able to before but not anymore for some reason.

It looks like you have disabled snapping. Enable Snapping, enable snapping options: Snap to Spread and Include Spread Midpoints.

@Scott_R_24 Is the issue resolved? After enabling snapping, are the snapping lines you want appearing?

I think so but not sure. Isn't it possible to pull in from any corner to the center of the image to find or see the center or am I asking to much?

Are the Snap settings per my screen shot correct?

Yes, pulling one of the corners of an object should snap it to the spread mid points with the snapping options you have enabled.

You can lean more about snapping in Affinity help:

Pulling down from a corner isn't working to show me the red and blue lines around the image. If they were I want to pull the red and blue lines where they would come together like an X as to find the center point of the image that starts out as for example 2000 x 1000 and I want to make it 500 x 500

The layer is locked. Click the lock icon on the layer to unlock it.

It's unlocked now. I never had to unlock images before in v1.0

Will I have to every time I open a new image?
