iceritchie Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Hi Im still having a lot of problems with Affinity Publisher. This is getting too frequent and too risky. Application - Publisher Are you using the latest release version? 2.5.5 (Update states im on latest ver) (here's how to check) Can you reproduce it? I have the following issues which occur too often (weekly) 1. The system hangs in certain scenarios, spinning beachball and the need of a forced restart. Sometimes files loaded after freeze ie cant edit text and I need to shutdown and restart. Opening the previous document gives a 'Open Recovery File' message even though it was correctly saved previous session. Sometimes even after Publisher was closed after saving a file. This occurs maybe 1-2 per week. File corruption, unable to open file. The file has been saved but seems to have been corrupted. I am having to make multiple manual backups daily to keep safe. Sync backup to cloud now removed to see if things improved (But did get a 'open recovery' message once even working local only. Files wont open at all and I either have to revert to an earlier version losing work. Happens maybe once every 2 weeks. Does it happen for a new document? If not, can you upload a document that shows the problem? This is working on existing documents. Not from new. If you cannot provide a sample document then please give an accurate description of the problem for example it should include most of the following: I can send the project but would also need the images linked. I would prefer to send offline. What is your operating system and version (Windows 11, OSX Ventura, iOS 16 etc)? Im on a MacBook M3 Pro 18GB. Sonoma 14.1. Mac was upgraded a year ago to help performance but had problems on old MacBook too. Is hardware acceleration (in Preferences > Performance) ON or OFF ? (and have you tried the other setting?) Hardware Acceleration off. I haven't tried it on lately. What happened for you (and what you expected to happen) Provide a recipe for creating the problem (step-by-step what you did). Screenshots (very handy) or a screen capture/video. Any unusual hardware (like tablets or external monitors or drives that may affect things) or relevant other applications like font managers or display managers. Did this same thing used to work and if so have you changed anything recently? (software or hardware). It's been on/off for a while. I have regressed once to 2.4 and then came back when 2.5.5. seemed stable. However I had problems on both, more so now. Quote
KiWI STUDIO Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Hi, same problem here. After a crash, file cannot be oppened (charging time doesn't end) Quote
iceritchie Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 Someone commented on FB with similar problem. One piece of advice was to uninstall and reinstall publisher. Should I try. Is there a recommended way to uninstall and reinstall? I presume I’ll lose custom items like text styles, etc Quote
iceritchie Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 And the fun goes on...... `Even running on a local only file. Does anyone know if the new OS release this week has done anything to fix this? Quote
Staff Callum Posted January 6 Staff Posted January 6 Hi All apologies for the delayed response, Please could you confirm if the crashes still persist when using our latest 2.5.7 version of the app? In regards to the post above this is typically caused by an embedded image or document within your file becoming corrupt deleting that corrupted resource should allow the file to save. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
