Vic Fricke Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 I have several user accounts on my Mac mini. When signed in on the administrator account, Publisher works fine, but when signed in on my wife's account it behaves differently. When she tries to create a new document, the New Document panel appears, but when she clicks the create button, the panel disappears but no new document opens. What is the cure? Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Welcome to the Affinity forums, @Vic Fricke, and sorry for the delayed response. Assuming you're still having the problems: Has it ever worked with her account? What release of Publisher and of macOS are you using? Do you (or she) ever have multiple monitors connected on this machine, and if so, are they all currently connected now? Vic Fricke Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 1., 2. Yes, it was working before. The recent things that changed were that the OS upgraded to Sequoia 15.1.1, the version of Publisher upgraded to 2.5.5, and she installed an old version of photoshop Elements while signed into her account. 3. we have only a single monitor on this Mac mini. The weird thing is that Publisher works fine when I sign in on my account, which is admin, but it behaves as I described when signed in on her user account. Quote
Vic Fricke Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 I just received a notice of a new update 2.5.6 to Publisher. I installed the upgrade, logged into my wife’s account, checked that it runs the new version, and tried to create a new document. The problem remains. The new document creation window comes up, and when Create is chosen, the dialogue window disappears but nothing is created. Quote
Vic Fricke Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 I uninstalled Photoshop Elements suspecting that Adobe shenanigans were involved, but it made no difference. Quote
walt.farrell Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Is it only a problem with creating new documents? Can she open existing documents? MikeTO Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Perhaps try clearing user defaults. Start Publisher with Ctrl held down (you can press and hold it immediately after clicking the app icon in the Dock). Then click Clear in the Clear User Defaults window.
